The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a UK based syllabus which is recognized in over 200 countries. I always suggest all Homeschool students pursue IGCSE, AS or A Level mathematics (each an extention of the previous) as it opens doors to many universities all over the world. We begin to explore with more depth, analytical thinking and try to better understand the background mathematical data behind trivial things (shapes, measurements etc) and non-trivial (higher degree exponents, complex number patterns etc). We will, as always, be asking questions fundamental to the mechanical processes of mathematics in the hope that students will be stimulated to think over and above the required norm. Students will be quizzed once a month as a test to see if their understanding is up to the level required by Vikos Education (80% pass mark). A certificate of accomplishment will be issued if the quiz is passed.
We try to cover the year’s work far faster than schools require to give us ample recap and exam prep time.
